Our Story
Butte Silver Bow Persons Invested in Recovery and Inner Transformation, known as Butte SPIRIT Homes,

Was founded to address a critical gap in our community: the lack of transitional housing for adults recovering from substance use disorders. In 2020, we opened our first recovery home at 609 West Galena Street in Butte, Montana. What began as a single men's home with eight beds has grown into a comprehensive recovery housing program serving both men and women across multiple facilities.
Our approach is rooted in a simple belief: lasting recovery happens in community. When people have safe housing, clinical support, peer connections, and the structure they need to rebuild their lives, transformation becomes possible.
Today, Butte SPIRIT Homes is licensed by the State of Montana as a Clinically Managed Low-Intensity Residential Service Provider (ASAM Level 3.1) and a National Alliance of Recovery Residences Level 2 recovery residence operator by Recovery Access Montana. We serve adults from Silver Bow County and surrounding areas, with availability for residents across Montana.
Our Mission
To provide supportive housing and services to those recovering from substance use disorders by creating an accessible, drug and alcohol-free environment, supporting fellowship and building partnerships among the recovery community. We seek to build connections with those that are invested in their own inner transformation, and to help them transition into a healthy peer supported network.
Our Vision
a future in which all those recovering from substance use disorders have the opportunity to become self-sustaining and empowered to maintain their recovery journey, with both support and freedom.
The Need We Address
In a 2020 Community Health Needs Assessment conducted by the Butte Silver-Bow Health Department and St. James Healthcare, substance abuse ranked as a top community concern. Nearly 43% of survey respondents reported their lives had been negatively affected by substance abuse, compared to a national average of 35.8%.

Community leaders, healthcare providers, and social service professionals identified the same barriers: lack of local treatment options, limited transitional housing, and placement difficulties due to insufficient facilities.
Butte SPIRIT Homes exists to close that gap.
