Program Highlights
Comprehensive clinical support and peer-based programming designed for lasting recovery.

Butte SPIRIT Homes is both licensed by the State of Montana as a Clinically Managed Low-Intensity Residential Service Provider (ASAM Level 3.1) and by Recovery Access Montana as a National Alliance of Recovery Residences (NARR Level 2) Recovery Home Operator. This means we provide structured recovery housing combined with clinical treatment services, all in a supportive community environment. Our programs go beyond housing. We offer a complete continuum of care that addresses the clinical, emotional, social, and practical needs of adults recovering from substance use disorders. Additionally, the Butte SPIRIT Men's Step-Down Home opened in March 2026, further expanding our services to provide long-term housing using the Social Model of Recovery. The home structure is non-clinical, primarily relying on self-governance to foster accountability, personal responsibility, and community integration.

Our Treatment Approach
We believe recovery is a journey, not a destination. Our approach combines clinical expertise with peer support, meeting residents where they are and walking alongside them as they build new skills, new connections, and new hope.
Evidence-Based, Trauma-Informed Care
Many people struggling with substance use disorder have experienced trauma. Our clinical team is trained in trauma-informed practices, creating a safe environment where residents can address root causes and develop healthy coping strategies.
Peer Support Model
Recovery happens in community. Our staff includes Certified Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialists who bring personal recovery experience to their work. Residents benefit from the guidance of people who have walked this path themselves.
Whole-Person Wellness
Recovery involves more than abstinence. Our programming addresses mental health, physical wellness, relationships, employment, finances, and life skills, helping residents build a foundation for long-term success.
Individualized Treatment Plans
Every resident receives a personalized treatment plan developed with their assigned Licensed Addictions Counselor. Plans address individual goals, challenges, and recovery needs, with regular updates as residents progress.

Support Services
Beyond clinical treatment, we provide practical support to help residents rebuild their lives and prepare for independent living.
Community Connection
Recovery is sustained through connection. Residents participate in support groups, work with sponsors, and build the relationships that sustain long-term sobriety. We encourage involvement in community activities and service.
Employment Assistance
Residents work toward employment within 4 weeks of admission. We offer job readiness support, resume assistance, and connections to local employers. Our women's program achieved 100% employment placement at discharge this year.
Financial Coaching
Many residents arrive facing financial challenges. We help build budgeting skills, establish savings habits, and work toward financial stability. Our women's program showed 83% financial improvement from intake to discharge.
Life Skills Training
Residents develop practical skills for independent living, including budgeting, meal planning, time management, communication, and self-care. These tools build confidence and prepare residents for life after SPIRIT Homes.
Transition Planning
Before graduation, residents work with staff to develop a transition plan addressing housing, employment, ongoing recovery support, and community connections. We want every graduate to succeed long after they leave our program.
Recovery Resources
Recovery is a community effort. These Montana-focused resources provide additional support, information, and connection for individuals and families affected by substance use disorder.
